ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita received a balanced scoring effort and took advantage of second-chance opportunities to slow Southern Arkansas on Thursday night inside Bill Vining Arena as the Lady Muleriders fell 66-54 in a Great American Conference affair in Arkadelphia.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Ouachita began the game on a 15-6 run that spanned the opening quarter's first 7:30, before Jasmyn Eckerman scored the next six points for the Lady Muleriders to cut the deficit to six points at 18-12 entering the second quarter.
- The Lady Tigers manufactured an 11-0 run as part of growing its lead to its largest of the first half at 18 points with 1:02 to remaining in the second quarter. Eckerman knocked down a jumper in the half's final 40 seconds to bring the halftime deficit to 16, 39-23 Ouachita.
- Southern Arkansas would only get as close as 14 points in the third quarter, but used a 7-0 run in the final quarter to pull within a dozen points.
- Over the game's final 6:15, Ouachita did not score a point as SAU outscored OUA 15-10 in the quarter, but the Tigers used their previously built lead and a solid defense to hold off a potential Lady Mulerider run late.
FOR SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
- Eckerman led the Lady Muleriders with a game-high 14 points in 29 minutes off of the bench. The sophomore finished with seven rebounds, two assists and a steal.
- Anna Djedjemel added nine points, four rebounds, three assists and a steal.
- Aaliyah Holmes followed with eight points, while Makaila Jordan grabbed a career-high 11 rebounds and collected a pair of steals with Alyssa Hamilton adding five boards.
FOR THE OPPOSITION
- Kori Bullard led Ouachita in scoring as the only Lady Tiger to score in double figures and did so with 11 points and collected all five of Ouachita's blocks.
- Bria Caldwell and Chasidee Owens each added nine points and a pair of steals, while five other Lady Tigers scored five or more points with four adding one steal.
- Owens led Ouachita in rebounding with seven and three other players grabbed five rebounds each.
- Caldwell dished out three assists, while three Lady Tigers recorded two assists apiece.
OF NOTE
- Turnovers plagued Southern Arkansas in the first half as Ouachita converted 13 Lady Mulerider turnovers into 18 first-half points. The Lady Tigers finished with 30 points off of turnovers as SAU turned it over 23 times Thursday night. The Lady Muleriders scored just 12 points off of turnovers.
- The Lady Muleriders added just five points on second-chance attempts, while Ouachita scored 21 second-chance points with 13 of those coming in the second half. Eight of OUA's ten fourth quarter points were via second chance.
- Over half of SAU's points came from the bench paced by Eckerman's 14.
- Ouachita outrebound SAU, 43-39.
- The Lady Tigers outscored SAU inside, 32-22. Southern Arkansas managed just four first-half points in the paint.
- OUA shot 35.9% from the floor and 82.4% from the free throw stripe, while making six three-pointers in 25 tries.
- Southern Arkansas shot 35.1% from the field in seven fewer attempts and made six three-pointers in nine fewer tries, but shot just 53.3% from the charity stripe.
- Ouachita led for the entire game as the lead never changed hands while the score was never tied.
