MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Lady Mulerider volleyball team fell short in a five-set rally against Oklahoma Baptist on Friday night (20-25, 25-19, 25-20, 18-25, 13-15), but commend Bass' record-breaking performance of the first-ever triple-double inside the W.T. Watson Center.
OF NOTE
- Southern recorded her sixth double-double of the season and, in doing so, tied her career high in kills (18) whilst setting a new career high in digs (17).
- Alexa Bass became the first Lady Mulerider to record a triple-double inside the W.T. Watson Center (10 kills, 29 assists, 10 digs) with the last time it being done in 2011.
- Bailey Cagle tied her career-high of six block assists and Bass' four set a new career-high.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- After dropping the first set to Oklahoma Baptist, the Lady Muleriders retaliated with a pair of wins that consisted of a combined 33 kills and .390 attack percentage.
- In the second set, SAU took the lead after a 3-all tie, aided by 15 total kills and a .438 attack clip, that resulted in a 25-19 final decision.
- SAU would carry that momentum into the following set as their 18 kills triggered another set win (25-20) that was supported by a substantial eight kills from Southern.
- The Lady Bison tied the match at 2 apiece in the next set (25-18) with equivalent attack efforts from both teams as they each totaled 13 kills, producing a .333 attack clip that proved to be SAU's highest attack percentage in a defeat this season.
- The final set was closely contested as SAU's 7-5 advantage was interrupted with a 5-0 Lady Bison run that influenced a 10-7 score, OKBU. SAU came to within a single point deficit four different times in the 11 remaining services, but sustained the eventual loss, 13-15.
