Lady Muleriders on the road for GAC tilt at Harding

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas Lady Mulerider Volleyball team hits the road on Thursday for a Great American Conference matchup with Harding inside Rhodes Fieldhouse in Searcy with first-serve scheduled for 6 p.m. Southern Arkansas looks to capture their first road win of the season and bounce back from a five-set defeat to Arkansas-Monticello on Tuesday. The Lady Bisons are coming off a five-set road loss to Ouachita.
 
SOUTHERN ARKANSAS (4-11, 1-3 GAC)
 
  • Three players have recorded 130 or more kills for the Lady Muleriders led by junior Alexia Southern's 139 kills, while senior Serena LeDuff (134 kills) owns a team-leading 2.48 kills per set. Junior Alli O'Banion (131 kills) paces the club with an attack percentage of .189 for players with at least 350 total attacks.
  • Junior Savannah Pillow (236 assists) has logged double-doubles in back-to-back matches for the first time in her career and owns an assists per set rate of 8.43.
  • Senior Paige Mays is the only GAC player currently in the top-ten in both service aces per set (T6th | 0.33) and in digs per set (6th | 4.51). Mays has recorded 10 or more digs in 14 of 15 games this season and has collected 20 or more digs five times.
  • Senior Kaitlyn Reiner paces Southern Arkansas in total blocks with 34.0 at a team-best 0.60 per set, while O'Banion has collected 30.0 total blocks at 0.53 per set.
  • Through 15 games, SAU is attacking at .149, while opponents are hitting at .199.
  • As a team, the Lady Muleriders are fifth in the league in digs per set (16.49) ninth in a pair of GAC categories: assists per set (10.37) and kills per set (11.05), and eleventh in blocks per set (1.19).
 
 
SCOUTING THE LADY BISONS (10-4, 2-2 GAC)
 
  • The Lady Bisons are in the top-three in every major statistical category in the GAC including the league's second-best hitting percentage at .211, while holding opponents to a conference-low attack clip of .123.
  • Four Harding players have 100 or more kills led by Zoe Hardin's 130 at a hit percentage of .343, while Sara Smith owns 117 kills at a team-high .345 swing clip; the best in the league, while Hardin is second in the category.
  • Hardin (79.0 total blocks) averages 1.58 blocks per set and owns an impressive 19 block solos during the 2016 season. Her blocks per set average is the best in the GAC and she owns the fifth-best points per set mark with 3.66.
  • Abigail Glosup (474 assists) controls the offense at 10.09 assists per set (3rd | GAC) and leads the team in service aces with 15.
  • Taylor Lake (243 digs) and Alex Nolan (140 digs) control the back line defense as the two players combine for over 7.5 digs per set. Lake's 4.86 digs per set are fourth-best in the GAC.
 
OF NOTE
 
  • The Lady Muleriders are 3-7 against Harding since the two programs became charter members of the Great American Conference in 2011. SAU's three wins came last year in a pair of regular season matchups as well as in the opening round of the GAC Tournament.
  • Southern Arkansas prepares for their 14th game away from the W.T. Watson Center and is looking for their first true road victory of the season. The team is currently 0-3 on the road and 3-7 in neutral site games.
