MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas baseball team dropped the opening game a three-game series with Arkansas Tech by a score of 4-2 on Friday night at Walker Stadium at Goodheart Field.
In the game, SAU (22-13, 13-9 GAC) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second inning as
Josey Langston hit a sacrifice fly out to left field to score
Jake Tisevich from third. Arkansas Tech (17-21, 9-13 GAC) answered back in the next half inning, however, on a RBI groundout to knot the game at one-all.
In the top of the fifth, Tech grabbed a one-run lead, 2-1, on a sacrifice fly.
An inning later in the bottom of the sixth,
Austin Bishoff tied the game up at two-all as he authoritatively blasted a solo homerun out to left-centerfield.
Neither team scored in the seventh, but Arkansas Tech pieced together a one-run top of the eighth to take another slim lead, this one at 3-2. The Wonder Boys added a run of insurance in the top of the ninth to bring the score to its eventual final of 4-2.
The Muleriders and Wonder Boys will wrap up their three-game series on Saturday as the two will play a doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m. at Walker Stadium at Goodheart Field.
