ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – In their final match of the season, Southern Arkansas Volleyball fought back in the fourth set, but fell just short of forcing a decisive fifth set in a four set loss (15-25,27-25,14-25,23-25) to Henderson State on Thursday evening inside the Duke Wells Center.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Henderson State opened the match with a set one victory after using a 19-7 run to close out the frame as the Reddies hit .424 (17-3-33) and held Southern Arkansas to an attack percentage of just .061 (9-7-33).
- Southern Arkansas bounced back in the second set winning in extra serves after suppressing a late surge from HSU to win 27-25.
- In the third set, the Reddies led 16-6 and answered each SAU point with a point of their own as they took a 2-1 match lead heading into the fourth set.
- Potentially down to their last set of the season, Southern Arkansas opened the frame leading 9-6 and withstood a 6-0 run by Henderson State to battle back and pull within two points at 19-17. The two teams traded points down the stretch, before a service error gave HSU the match win.
- Southern Arkansas hit .444 (13-1-27) in the final set.
FOR SOUTHERN ARKANSAS
- Senior Serena LeDuff led SAU with 13 kills (13-4-34) and freshman Seven Powers added 11. LeDuff added three digs, two blocks and a pair of service aces.
- Junior Alli O'Banion added eight kills and a team-high four blocks. Classmate Alexia Southern added seven kills at a team-high .318 attack percentage and a pair of block assists.
- Freshman Katy Cooper produced 35 assists and finished two digs shy of a double-double effort.
- Hannah Rice commanded a backline defense for SAU with 18 digs.
FOR THE OPPOSITION
- Kamra Jackson recorded 19 kills, Adrianna Hartmann followed with 17 kills and Gabby Ginapp added 13 kills. Jackson added 10 digs in a double-double effort.
- Ginapp led HSU with a game-high six blocks and Hartmann and Karlie Greene added four each.
- Haley Higgins registered a team-high in assists with 31 and a game-high in service aces with 4.
- Sydney Skelton produced 23 digs and Gigi Garramone added a dozen.
