Tipping Off
The Southern Arkansas women's basketball team will have to play their third road game in a row as their scheduled home game with Harding this past Thursday was postponed until this upcoming Monday. With that postponement with Harding, the next game up for the Lady Muleriders is a road contest at Ouachita, where they are 3-12 since the start of the 1999-2000 season. In road games this season, the Lady Muleriders are 6-2 meanwhile four of Ouachita's five wins on the season have come at home.
 

LADY MULERIDER NEWS AND NOTES
The Southern Arkansas women's basketball team enters play on Saturday with a 10-3 overall record and a 6-3 mark in the Great American Conference. The Lady Muleriders are coming off of a dominant road win at Arkansas-Monticello in their most-recent action as they beat the Cotton Blossoms 75-59.

On the season, the Lady Muleriders are averaging 78.3 points per game while allowing their opponents to score an average of 70.4 points per game for a scoring margin of +7.9. Their points per game average ranks third in the GAC, while their scoring defense ranks eighth and their scoring margin ranks fourth within the league.

As a team, the Lady Muleriders are shooting .474 (405-of-854) overall from the floor which includes a shooting mark of .339 (58-of-171) from long range. From the free throw line, the Lady Muleriders are shooting .633 (150-of-237). Their overall field goal percentage ranks first in the GAC while their 3-point field goal percentage ranks fifth. At the charity stripe the Lady Muleriders' percentage ranks 12th.

In terms of individual production, the Lady Muleriders have two players averaging double figures with Rosa Bryant leading the way at 21.5 points per game. Bryant's scoring average currently ranks second in the GAC and eighth in DII. The other player averaging double figures is Shana Holmes at 13.6 ppg. Bryant is also the team's leading rebounder at 11.8 rebounds per game. Additionally, Bryant's rebounding average currently ranks 12th in DII.

Defensively, the Lady Muleriders have forced 226 turnovers with 109 of those being steals. Additionally, the Lady Muleriders are allowing their opponents to shoot at a clip of .387 (309-of-798) overall from the floor and .328 (89-of-271) from beyond the arc.

COACH
The Lady Muleriders are coached by Julio Pacheco, who is in his first season at Southern Arkansas. Prior to becoming the head coach at SAU, Pacheco spent seven seasons as the assistant coach at Arkansas Tech where he helped guide the Golden Suns to the NCAA Tournament four times, advancing as far as the Elite Eight twice. Also while at Tech, Pacheco helped the Golden Suns capture four regular season championships and three conference tournament championships.
 

SCOUTING OUACHITA
The Ouachita women's basketball team enters play on Saturday with a 5-10 overall record and a 2-7 mark in the Great American Conference. The Lady Tigers are currently in a four-game losing streak with their last win coming at Northwestern Oklahoma back on January 7. On the season, the Lady Tigers are averaging 64.2 points per game while allowing their opponents to score an average of 69.1 points per game for a scoring margin of -4.9. Their points per game average ranks 10th in the GAC, while their scoring defense ranks seventh and their scoring margin ranks ninth within the league.

As a team, the Lady Tigers are shooting .371 (335-of-903) overall from the floor which includes a shooting mark of .256 (82-of-320) from long range. From the free throw line, the Lady Tigers are shooting .759 (211-of-278). Their overall field goal percentage ranks 10th in the GAC while their 3-point field goal percentage ranks 12th. At the charity stripe the Lady Tigers' percentage ranks first.

In terms of individual production, the Lady Tigers have two players averaging double figures with Katie Kapler leading the way at 14.5 points per game. Kapler's points per game currently rank her ninth in the GAC. Behind Kapler is Breanna Harris at 12.9 ppg. Kori Bullard is just outside of double-figure scoring at 9.5 ppg to rank third on the team.

Defensively, the Lady Tigers have forced 227 turnovers with 85 of those being steals. Additionally, the Lady Tigers are allowing their opponents to shoot at a clip of .398 (380-of-954) overall from the floor and .343 (103-of-300) from beyond the arc.

COACH
The Lady Tigers are coached by Gary Crowder, who is in his 21st year at Ouachita. In his previous 20 seasons, Crowder has amassed a 309-242 overall record. Three times, Crowder has won 20 or more games and 13 times, he has finished a season over .500.
 

THE SERIES
This is will be the 31st meeting since the start of the 1999-2000 season between the Lady Muleriders and the Lady Tigers. In that time, the Lady Tigers hold an 18-12 advantage over SAU.

ON TAP
The Lady Muleriders will be back at home next week as they have a three-game slate ahead of them with all the games being played inside the W.T. Watson Center. The first of those games will be a make-up contest with Harding on Monday night. That game was originally scheduled for this past Thursday, but potential hazardous road conditions
within the state of Arkansas forced the postponement of the game.
