SHREVEPORT, La. – The Southern Arkansas baseball team took on perennial NAIA national power LSU-Shreveport on the road on Tuesday night in non-conference action and LSU-Shreveport would defeat SAU by a score of 9-0.
The NAIA No. 10-ranked Pilots (3-1) started their scoring in the bottom of the first inning with three unearned runs off of SAU starter
Landon Simpson. LSUS would tack on single runs in the fifth and sixth innings before breaking the game open in the seventh with three runs in the frame.
The Muleriders (5-4), who broke out offensively in their last game with an 11-hit attack against Pittsburg State, would collect eight more hits against LSU-Shreveport, but were unable to drive in a run as three Pilots pitchers combined for the shutout.
The Muleriders will now return home and play host to Central Missouri and Lincoln University (Mo.) this weekend at Walker Stadium at Goodheart Field. The weekend slate will feature a doubleheader against Central Missouri on Friday, February 13 and then single games against Lincoln on Saturday, February 14 and Sunday, February 15. First-pitch on Friday is set for 2 p.m.
