Lady Muleriders ready for GAC match-up with Southwestern Oklahoma St.

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Currently riding a five-game winning streak to open the season and off to the program's best start since 2003-04, the Southern Arkansas Lady Mulerider basketball team is set for their next Great American Conference tilt against Southwestern Oklahoma St. Tip-off on Saturday afternoon, December 5, is schedule for 1 p.m. inside the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.
 
The Lady Muleriders (5-0, 3-0 GAC) are coming off a 26-point home-opening victory over Northwestern Oklahoma St. on Thursday evening and welcome in the Lady Bulldogs who are currently 1-5 overall and winless in three games in GAC play. Despite the record, SWOSU has dropped games to last season's GAC Tournament finalists in Arkansas Tech and Harding and also lost by only three possessions to the nation's top-ranked team in Emporia State.
 
The Lady Bulldogs average 73.5 points per game, third-best in the Great American Conference and boast the league's top rebounding offense at 43.5 rebounds per game. Jade Jones and Haley Tucker average double-digit scoring totals for SWOSU and Jessica Penner leads the team in rebounding with 6.3 boards a contest.
 
For Southern Arkansas, they are led by a trio of players in senior forward Rosa Bryant, senior guard Shana Holmes and sophomore forward Aleeya Harris. All three players average 14+ points per game led by Bryant's 19.2 and she also averages 13.8 rebounds per game as she has recorded a double-double in four the team's five games this season.
 
Senior guard Tierra Tucker and junior transfer guard Caroline Ficher round out the starting five for Southern Arkansas. Tucker leads the team in assists and steals with 28 and 8 respectively. Ficher and Harris have seven steals apiece and Harris has collected 10 blocks, averaging two blocks a game.
 
Senior forward Shunta Nevitt and freshman forward Alyssa Hamilton provide quality minutes off of the bench as Nevitt registers 23 minutes per game, while Hamilton works with 10 minutes per game. Hamilton delivered with a career-high eight points and seven rebounds in Thursday's win. Four additional Lady Muleriders average five or more minutes a game providing additional depth as the trio of Bryant, Harris and Holmes average over 31 minutes a game.
