Serena LeDuff each delivered a double-double for the Lady Muleriders, but Southern Arkansas was topped by Oklahoma Baptist in five sets (25-19, 23-25, 25-18, 18-25, 12-15) on Friday evening inside the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.
It was the 14
th time this season that Lauterbach produced 10+ kills and the sixth time she delivered with 15 or more. Reaume collected a career-high 58 assists, while adding 12 digs and LeDuff picked up her fifth double-double of the season with 16 kills and 12 digs.
Trailing 14-9 in the fifth set, the Lady Muleriders (11-11, 3-5 GAC) used a kill from LeDuff and a pair of Lady Bison attack errors to pull within two, but OBU finished the fifth set via kill to pick up their seventh GAC win of the season.
SAU outhit Oklahoma Baptist and also produced 12 more kills (67-55), but the Lady Bison benefited from a dozen blocks. Defensively, the Lady Muleriders collected a season-high 120 digs as six players recorded double-digit kill totals led by a trio of juniors in
Hannah Rice's 34,
Paige Mays' 17 and
Brittney Johnson's 16. Sophomore
Savannah Pillow added 14 digs.
With the exception of the third set, SAU held the Lady Bison to an average attack percentage of .149, but Oklahoma Baptist managed to hang around in sets four and five before using an 8-2 run in the fifth set to pull away from Southern Arkansas down the stretch.
The Lady Muleriders return to action tomorrow afternoon for a 2 p.m. first-serve with Southern Nazarene inside the W. T. Watson Athletic Center.
