Winter Park, Fla. – The Southern Arkansas (0-1) volleyball team fell in straight sets, 20-25, 18-25, 20-25, Friday morning to Texas A&M-Kingsville (1-0) in their season opener at Warden Arena in their first game at the Rollins College Invitational.
Senior attacker
Amanda Monge started the first set strong, scoring SAU's first three points via a kill and back-to-back service aces. Monge finished the match with a game-high six service aces. After Monge contributed with the first three points, it was sophomore
Hailey McNee's turn to make a significant impact. McNee finished the set with nine kills and led the Muleriders to a .370 (15-27-5) attacking percentage in the first set.
The Javelina hitters had complete control throughout the contest. A&M-Kingsville finished the match with a .398 (45-83-12) attacking percentage, including an outstanding .520 (15-25-2) in the first set. On the other hand, the Lady Muleriders finished the last two sets of the match on the other end of the spectrum, hitting just .036 (13-55-11).
The Lady Muleriders look to bounce back in their second game of the day versus host Rollins College at 2 p.m. at Warden Arena.
