MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas women's basketball team came into Thursday night's game against Harding University with a very difficult task in front of them; upset the No. 4-ranked team in the country. The upset bid was not to be however, as Harding proved to be too much in a 67-39 win over SAU.
In the game, the Lady Muleriders (11-12, 7-10 GAC) would find it very difficult to generate any kind of offense against the Lady Bisons (24-1, 16-1 GAC) as SAU was held to season-lows in scoring (39 points) and field goal percentage (.262).
The scoring difficulties that the Lady Muleriders endured reflected the fact that coming into the game, the Lady Bisons led the Great American Conference and ranked 26th in Division II in fewest points allowed per game (60.3).
Eight different Lady Muleriders would score in the game with
Chanel Miller leading the way with nine points.
Miranda Grier was next in line with seven points and
Courtney Lindsey came in late in the game and was a perfect 3-of-3 from the floor as she totaled six points. Returning to action after over a month off due to injury was
Rebekah Knudson and Knudson would match Lindsey in scoring six points.
The Lady Muleriders will now prepare to hit the road for a clash with Arkansas Tech on Saturday, February 22. Tip-off for that game is scheduled for 2 p.m.
