MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas men's basketball team will take to the road for the first time this regular season as they are set to travel to Commerce, Texas to take on Texas A&M-Commerce in a non-conference matchup tonight (Monday) at 7 p.m.
 
The Muleriders enter play with a 2-1 overall record and have won their last two games while the opposing Lions enter with a 5-2 overall record and have won their last three games. For the Lions, their last two wins have come against nationally-ranked opponents in No. 11-ranked California Baptist (68-67) and No. 17-ranked Dixie State (74-64). Both of those games were played in Riverside, Calif. as part of the California Baptist Thanksgiving Classic.
 
In terms of scoring, the Muleriders are averaging 76.7 points per game and have a +7.7 scoring margin while the Lions are averaging 84.4 points per game with a +7.8 scoring margin. Twice already this season, the Lions have scored 100 or more points, but they are just 1-1 in such games. Individually, both teams have three players averaging double figures with LaDon Carnegie leading the Lions at 18.0 ppg and Jaron Davis leading the Muleriders at 13.3 ppg.
 
Tonight's matchup will be the 39th meeting all-time between the two teams in a series that dates back to the 1971-72 season. In this series, the Lions hold a commanding 25-13 record against the Muleriders and A&M-Commerce has won the previous 12 meetings with the last SAU win coming in the 2004-05 season.
