Mulerider basketball set to take on Central Baptist in non-conference clash

MAGNOLIA, Ark. ­– For the first time this season, the Southern Arkansas men's basketball team will play a non-conference opponent in Central Baptist College after playing their first two games of the 2014-15 season against Great American Conference foes, Southern Nazarene and Southeastern Oklahoma.
 
In those first two games, the Muleriders (1-1) would go 1-1, dropping a tough one, 67-70, in overtime in their season-opener vs. Southern Nazarene and then bouncing back to stave of Southeastern, 78-77, this past Saturday.
 
On the other end of the court, Central Baptist enters play tonight with a 3-4 overall record and the Mustangs (3-4) are currently on a two-game winning streak.
 
Entering play tonight, the Muleriders average 72.5 points per game while the Mustangs are just off that pace with 71.1 points per game. SAU currently has two players averaging double-figures with Jaron Davis leading the way at 12.0 points per game. Junior forward James Evans is next with 10.5 points per game. For CBC, they are led in scoring by junior James Brown, who is currently averaging 14.8 points per game. Joshua Tarver is the next leading scored for the Mustangs at 9.7 points per game.
 
On the glass, SAU, as a team, holds a slight advantage as they average 38.5 boards per game while CBC is averaging 36.9. The leading rebounder for the Muleriders is Alre'k Brown at 9.5 and the leading rebounder for the Mustangs is Xavier Huskey at 6.3.
 
Tonight's game will be the seventh meeting all-time between SAU and CBC and the Muleriders are currently unbeaten again the Mustangs, going 6-0 in the previous six meetings.
