MAGNOLIA, Ark. – On a special Thursday night when seniors
Angela Gaignard and
Amanda Monge were honored for their contributions to the Southern Arkansas volleyball program, the Lady Muleriders swept Texas College in three sets (25-13, 25-10, 25-7) at W.T. Watson Center.
Monge fired a match-high 16 kills on 10 attempts to set a new record-high in attacking percentage (.842) in a single match in the Great American Conference this season. Monge topped East Central's Hayley Gerken, who posted an .812 (13-0-16) attacking percentage at St. Gregory's [09/20/14]. Gaignard added two kills and an assist in her final home contest.
SAU (10-17) attacked at a season-high .391 (44-10-87) clip while limiting Texas College (0-19) to -.161 (7-16-56).
Freshman
Alli O'Banion smashed nine kills, and sophomore
Hailey McNee added eight in the balanced effort for the Lady Muleriders.
SAU heads south to face Grambling at 3 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Gymnasium.
