Lady Muleriders roll past Stillman College

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The Southern Arkansas volleyball team made quick work of Stillman College on Friday afternoon as the Lady Muleriders (12-6) took just an hour and six minutes to pick up a 3-0, straight-sets, sweep over the Lady Tigers (8-11) in non-conference action.
 
After falling behind 8-3 in the opening set, the Lady Muleriders would storm back and eventually win the set 25-22. Sets two and three were controlled mostly by the Lady Muleriders as the Lady Tigers held just one lead over those last two sets. SAU won set two 25-16 and set three 25-20.
 
For the match, the Lady Muleriders enjoyed one of their more efficient offensive attack performances as they collectively hit at a clip of .261 (41 kills | 17 attack errors | 92 total attacks). The Lady Muleriders also registered at least 10 kills in each of the three sets against Stillman.
 
Freshman outside hitter Hailey McNee led the team in kills with 12 followed behind by Courtney Geesing and Amanda Monge with seven kills each. Monge, who was coming off of a career-high 17-kill performance last time out, led the team in attack percentage with a .400 mark on Friday.
 
Setter Gabby Clark paced the offense with 34 of the team's 39 assists. Eight different Lady Muleriders recorded a dig with freshman Ally Rodriguez leading the way with a career-high 12 digs.
 
The Lady Muleriders will return to the court on Saturday as they take part in the Montevallo tri-match. The first match of the day will be against Francis Marion at 2:30 p.m. with the nightcap coming against Montevallo at 4:30 p.m.
