Box Score ARKADELPHIA – Southern Arkansas battled strong but fell just short against the Ouachita Baptist Lady Tigers in a 66-62 decision at Bill Vining Arena Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Muleriders (0-16, 0-11 GAC) were looking to pick up their first win of the season as they began the second round of Great American Conference play. SAU played the Lady Tigers (14-3, 9-2 GAC) closely throughout the game which saw two ties and four lead changes. The Lady Muleriders never led by more than a point, but they never let Ouachita get more than 10 points ahead.
Leading the game for the Lady Tigers was freshman guard Breanna Harris with 17 points. Junior guard Nashia James put up 12 points while junior forward Elise Holeman scored 10.
For the Lady Muleriders, sophomore guard
Katherine McBride continued to shine with 20 points and nine rebounds. Junior guard
Stevi Cooper scored 17 points, and freshman forward
Tori Nichols posted a double-double with 12 points and 13 rebounds.
The Lady Tigers shot 38.7 percent from the floor while the Lady Muleriders shot 40 percent. From the line, Ouachita shot 50 percent while SAU shot 66.7 percent.
The Lady Muleriders return home for four consecutive contests beginning with Southwestern Oklahoma State University on Thursday, January 31. Tip-off is slated for 5:30 p.m.
