Harding women run away from Southern Arkansas

Box Score MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Harding knocked down 34 field goals en route to a 91-44 win over Southern Arkansas Thursday in Great American Conference play at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.
 
Kristen Celsor had game-highs of 21 points, nine rebounds and three steals in leading the Lady Bisons (10-4, 6-2 GAC).  Shana Holmes scored 18 points.
 
Freshman center Tori Nichols (Houston, Miss.) was the only player for the Lady Muleriders (0-13, 0-8 GAC) in double-figures with 10 points and also pulled down seven rebounds.  Freshman guard Macey Burr (Hot Springs Village) scored seven points.
 
SAU was within 27-21 at 7:04 in the first half, but it was all Harding from there as they went on an 18-3 run for a 45-24 lead at the half.
 
It was more of the same in the second frame as Southern Arkansas managed only one field goal over the first seven minutes and the Lady Bisons extended it to a 60-26 game.
 
Harding increased its lead to 40 points (81-41) with three minutes left before finishing with a 10-3 run for the final margin.
 
The Lady Bisons shot 49.3 percent on 34 of 69 from the floor and hit 18 of 28 free throws, while the Lady Muleriders shot just 26.3 percent on 15 of 57 and were 10 of 18 at the foul stripe.
 
Harding commanded a 48-38 rebound advantage, outscoring SAU 54-14 inside, held a 15-8 edge in second-chance points, and forced 19 turnovers they converted into 24 points.  Southern Arkansas scored three points off 10 Lady Bison miscues.
 
The Lady Muleriders travel Saturday to Russellville for a 4 p.m. GAC match-up with Arkansas Tech.
