Box Score MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Celebrating Thanksgiving a day early, Southern Arkansas “gobbled” up Ecclesia with a 105-58 win Wednesday at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.
The Muleriders (3-0) led by as much as 10 points for 34 minutes of the 40-minute game, and by 20-plus points for 25 minutes. They reached the century mark for the third consecutive time in as many games, with five players scoring in double-figures, including three with 20-plus points.

Darrin Johnson (Chicago, Ill.) and junior forward
Tevin Worthy (Little Rock) scored 22 points apiece, and junior forward
Nigel Jones (Wadley, Ala.) added a double-double with 20 points and 12 rebounds.
Brandon Brzozkiewicz led the Royals (0-7) with 18 points. Levi Roberts scored 11, and Rashad Colbert and Jacob Berry added 10 each.
SAU was all over outmanned Ecclesia, which had only six players in uniform, from the start. Tied 8-8 after three minutes of play, Southern Arkansas went on a 12-0 run for a 20-8 lead at 13:13 on Worthy's tip-in. Junior forward
Duke Reed's (Houston, Texas) tip-in just prior put the Muleriders up by double-digits for good at the 14-minute mark as they cruised to a 53-28 halftime lead.
The second half was more of the same. A 12-0 run over four minutes lifted SAU to an 82-45 advantage with nine minutes to play and an 8-0 spree late in the contest put it away.
Southern Arkansas shot a sizzling 50 percent for the game, connecting on 46 of 92, including 9 of 24 (37.5 percent) three-pointers. They had only seven free-throw attempts, making four, as the Royals had only 10 fouls.
Ecclesia finished at 34 percent shooting on 18 of 53, with 10 of 28 (35.7 percent) beyond the arc, and hit 12 of 19 from the foul stripe.
The Muleriders dominated on the glass by a 60-23 margin, with junior guard
Jamail Turner (Swainsboro, Ga.) pulling down eight rebounds and Worthy getting seven to add to Jones' 12.
SAU used its size advantage to out-score the Royals 66-8 inside and had 31 second-chance points to none. They also forced 25 turnovers that they converted into 36 points.
Reed added 12 points and six rebounds for Southern Arkansas, senior guard
Daviel Clements (Jesup, Ga.) scored 11 points, and junior guard
Ricky Allen (Little Rock) dished out seven assists.
Following the Thanksgiving break, the Muleriders will resume play Monday when they travel to Commerce, Texas, for a 7 p.m. tip-off against Texas A&M-Commerce at the A&M-Commerce Field House.
