Lady Muleriders roll over Savage Storm, 3-0

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas volleyball team had little trouble dispatching Southeastern Oklahoma State Friday, tossing a 3-0 shutout in Great American Conference play at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center by scores of 25-15, 25-23, 25-20.
 
The Lady Muleriders (15-4, 7-0 GAC) stay perfect in conference play in picking up their third straight shutout and fourth consecutive win and 13th of their last 15 matches.  The Savage Storm (2-19, 1-6 GAC) have lost 10 straight.
 
Junior outside hitter Denise De Vine (Lake Elsinore, Calif.) led SAU with 15 kills, hitting .452 with only one attack error.  Junior middle hitter Cambria Martin (Tujunga, Calif.) added 12 kills while hitting .308 and had three blocks at the net.
 
Southern Arkansas destroyed the Storm over the net, smashing 54 kills to just 25 for their opponent, and had a team hitting percentage of .287 to .147.
 
Junior setter Klaire Blasco Vine (Downey, Calif.) served up 45 of the Lady Muleriders' 49 assists, while junior libero Lauren Woods (Kennedale, Texas) was a defensive plug with 27 digs.  Junior outside hitter Courtney Geesing (Montrose, Colo.) chipped in 16 digs, and freshman defensive specialist Allie Cecil (Rockwall, Texas) contributed 11.
 
Megan Kunkel and Emily Gentle paced Southeastern with nine kills apiece, and had 19 and 10 digs, respectively.
 
SAU continues league play Saturday, hosting East Central (Okla.) in a 2 p.m. match.  At 7-0, they maintain their hold on top of the GAC standings, a half match ahead of Harding (6-0), which plays its next conference match Saturday.
