Joseph Blue will enter into his third spring season as a graduate assistant coach for the Mulerider and Lady Mulerider Track and Field teams. In his first two years, Blue has coached and seen exponential growth from the throw, high jump and multi events athletes. In two years, Blue has coached 14 All-GAC selections including First-Team honorees Aurthur Jeffrey, Sinclair Pitts, Bethany Billings, T'Keyah Crockett, Quantiesha Coats and 2017 GAC Individual Champion Erica Fuller (Hammer).
Prior to coming to Southern Arkansas, Blue earned a Bachelor's of Science in Communications with a Minor in Human Resources from California State University-Northridge, where he also competed for the CSUN Track and Field program. Before his time at CSUN, Blue competed for three years at Division I-Fresno State as a thrower and as a member of the rugby team.
While at Fresno, Blue garnered All-WAC First-Team Discus honors in 2012, was an All-WAC Second Team Selection in 2013 and a three-time Dean's List recipient. Participated in four conference championships and ranks in the top-five in all-time bench press totals at Fresno State. Blue's personal best while competing as an athlete: Shot put - 16.63 meters; Discus - 46.01 meters.
Blue is pursuing his masters degree in College Counseling & Student Affairs at Southern Arkansas. He is a member of Kappa Sigma Fraternity and has a variety of work experience including counseling, football coaching, and federal prison inmate monitoring.
