EL DORADO, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas Muleriders delivered an impressive performance at the Arkansas Collegiate, hosted at the Mystic Creek Golf Club on Monday and Tuesday this week. Competing against a strong field, the Muleriders had two teams in the event, with the A team securing a 2nd place finish at +43 (293-310-303), just behind #10 Georgia Southwestern. Meanwhile, the B team finished 13th at +122 (324-332-330).
Leading the way for the Muleriders was Logan McDonald, who earned his first collegiate tournament victory after finishing in a tie for first place. McDonald posted consistent scores of 74-73-74 to finish at +5 for the tournament, proving his ability to perform under pressure. McDonald showcased consistency throughout the tournament, keeping big numbers off his scorecard. In Round 1, he carded a 74, which included four birdies on holes 1, 4, 7, and 15, helping him remain in contention early. He followed that up with a 73 in Round 2, a round that featured four birdies on holes 2, 3, 13, and 14. With the tournament on the line, McDonald remained composed in Round 3, firing another 74 to secure his share of the individual title.
Just behind him, Blane Burk also had an outstanding showing, securing a T3 finish with rounds of 72-74-77, ending the tournament at +6. Their strong play helped the A team stay in contention throughout the event.
Other notable performances from the A team included Will Blake, who finished 17th at +16 (73-80-79), and Luke Cote, who finished T19 at +18 (76-81-77). Jett Stephenson rounded out the squad, placing T24 at +20 (74-80-82).
The B team saw Wil Griffin lead the way with a 23rd-place finish at +19 (75-83-77). Collin Spangler followed, finishing T49 at +32 (82-81-85), while Colby Light placed T51 at +33 (86-83-80). Alex Gerrard ended T64 at +41 (81-85-91), and Keaton Michael wrapped up the team's effort, finishing T67 at +46 (87-87-88). Despite the higher scores, the experience gained by the B team was invaluable as they continue to develop.
Next up for the Muleriders is the FireKeeper Open on April 7-8 in Mayetta, Kansas.
