Ka'Ronce Higgins finishes the 200-meter at the Dan Veach

Muleriders record 28 top-five finishes at Jim Mize Invitational

Ruston, La. – The SAU Men's and Women's Track and Field teams were in action this weekend as they competed in the Jim Mize Invitational hosted by Division I Louisiana Tech. The Muleriders took home 28 top-five finishes, including four event wins.

The Muleriders took both the men and women's high jump events, with Richard Barkhimer and Courtney Williams taking first, respectively. Barkimer won his event with a jump of 2.00 meters and Williams with a jump of 1.71 meters.

The men's 4x400-meter relay team of Shonquil Atkins, Tyrenzo Banks, Ka'Ronce Higgins and Addison Ross finished a full second faster than hosts Louisiana Tech, with a time of 3:15.32, did.
Higgins also took first in the men's 100-meter dash with a time of 10.69 meters. He edged out teammates Quincy Flowers, who finished second with a time of 10.87.

Higgins' 10.69 is the third-best mark in the GAC this season, and Williams bested her 1.70-meter mark that was a school record as well as a Division II Provisional Qualifying mark.
Barkhimer also tied his conference-best mark and the men's 4x400-meter relay team shaved off nearly two seconds from their previous conference-best time of 3:17.18.

Higgins, who finished third in the men's 200-meter run, one one-hundredth of a second behind first place, improved on his conference-best mark in that event, which is also a Division II Provisional Qualifying mark.

Sinclair Pitts, who finished in the top five in the shot put, discus and hammer, improved on his previous season-high in the hammer throw by 1.90 meters. His 54.39 is second in the GAC this season.
The Muleriders are in action next weekend as they compete in the University of Louisiana-Monroe Warhawk Classic.
