Searcy, Ark. – The SAU Women's Track and Field teams competed yesterday in the Harding Invitational, as three Muleriders set school records in their respective field events and complied 20 top-five finishes overall.
Quantiesha Coats,
Teresa Reed and
Courtney Williams set program records in the shot put, the javelin and the high jump, respectively.
Coats broke her own school record in the shot put with a fifth-round throw of 13.52 meters. The throw saw Coats be one of two Muleriders to claim victory in their event.
Courtney Williams, the reigning GAC Women's Field Athlete of the Week, broke her own school record as well, with a high jump of 1.70 meters. Williams, the other Mulerider to win her event on the day, previously set the record two weeks ago at the UCA Spring Opener, and her record jump is also a DII provisional qualifying mark.
Freshman
Teresa Reed broke a school record almost as old as she is, recording a throw of 37.91 meters in the javelin. Angelio Munson set the previous record in 2001 with a throw of 37.21, and the record throw saw Reed finish second after going back and forth with the even lead with Harding's Jenni Nadeau, with Nadeau taking first on her final throw.
In addition to Reed, the women's 4x100-meter relay team of
Breanna Byrd, Chloee Riddley,
Adrianna Tillman and
Latyana Berry claimed second place with a time of 48.00 seconds, and
T'Keyah Crockett claimed second-place finishes in the discus and the hammer with throws of 44.64 meters and 46.13 meters, respectively.
The Muleriders are back in action on Friday at the Mulerider Track Complex as they host the Dan Veach Invitational.
