EL DORADO, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas men's and women's golf teams opened up their respective spring schedule of competitions this past Saturday with a single-day dual meet against Arkansas-Monticello at the Mystic Creek Golf Club in El Dorado.
In the men's dual, the Muleriders would fall one stroke back of the Boll Weevils as UAM carded a team score of 318 while SAU carded a 319. In terms of individual play, however, the Muleriders'
Kirk Peterson would claim the individual title as he shot a +3 (75).
The next best individual score for the Muleriders was turned in by
George Adams as he shot a +7 (79).
Jacob Etherington and Pablo Lavin would round out team scoring for the Muleriders with scores of 81 and 84, respectively.
On the women's side, the Lady Muleriders would shot a 379 while the Cotton Blossoms turned in a team score of 351.
The top individual score for the Lady Muleriders came from
Helle Leed as she shot an 89 to finish third. Baily Carr's 93 earned her a top-five finish while
Gabriela Clemence and
Natalie Renaud rounded out team scoring with scores of 94 and 103.
The Muleriders will now prepare for their first tournament of the spring season as they will play in the David Falconer Golf Classic. That two-day event, which is being played at the Chamberlyne Country Club in Danville, Ark., will begin on Monday, March 7 and conclude on Tuesday, March 8.
As for the Lady Muleriders, they will play their first tournament of the spring season at the Midwestern State Invitational from March 14-15. That two-day event will be played at the Wichita Falls Country Club in Wichita Falls, Texas.
