NACOGDOCHES, Texas – In her first official heptathlon of the spring, sophomore multi-athlete
Emily Potts logged a solid showing through the first four events of the competition as she posted 2,332 points combined in the 100 hurdles, high jump, shot put and 200 meter events on Thursday afternoon at the Sixth-Annual Skecher's Carl Kight Invitational inside Homer Bryce Stadium.
Potts, competing in a heavy Division I-laden field this weekend, is less than 1,200 points from breaking her own school record in the heptathlon which she set last season as a freshman at the Great American Conference Championships (3,515).
On Thursday, the sophomore's best performance came in the 200 meter as she placed tenth with a time of 26.72, which earned her 735 points; the second-highest single-event point total for the multi-athlete in any heptathlon event of her young career.
She is currently in 13
th place and less than 335 points from 10
th place overall.
Potts is back in action tomorrow at the Carl Kight to finish up the final three events of the competition: long jump (11 a.m.), javelin (12:15 p.m.) and 800 meters (1:30 p.m.). For a complete schedule of all of the Lady Mulerider action taking place in Nacogdoches tomorrow, visit
