LAFAYETTE, La. – Junior thrower
Sinclair Pitts bettered his program record in the hammer throw on Friday afternoon at the Louisiana Classics to highlight the Muleriders' solid showing on the first day of action at the highly-competitive meet in south Louisiana.
Pitts notched a program-best hammer mark of 171' 8" to better his old mark, set last spring at the Louisiana Classics, by 13 feet. Additionally, the Magnolia, Arkansas, native needed just over seven and a half more feet to claim an NCAA Division II Provisional Qualifying mark in the event.
Three sprinters logged personal best times in the 200 meter event, while freshman distance runner
Trevor Poulson logged a sub-10:30.00 performance in the 3000 Meter Steeplechase in his first career attempt at it.
