RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southern Arkansas senior right-hander
Dalton Algiene has been named as the Great American Conference Co-Pitcher of the Week as it was announced by the league office on Monday.
In earning the weekly honor, Algiene became the GAC's ERA leader after posting a complete game victory with one earned run against preseason favorites Oklahoma Baptist. In the start, Algiene limited the league's top offense entering play that weekend to just four hits while striking out a career-high 12 batters in just seven innings of work.
The 12-K performance also vaulted Algiene to the top of the conference in strikeouts on the season. In three of his four starts, Algiene has registered nine or more strikeouts.
