RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – Southern Arkansas junior designated hitter
Cortland McPherson has been named as the Great American Conference Player of the Week as it was announced by the league office on Monday.
The weekly conference award for hitters is the first of the season for McPherson and the third for the Muleriders as a team.
In earning the nod, McPherson hit .615 for the week going 8-for-13 with four runs scored and four RBIs over SAU's four-game slate in which they went 4-0.
Having at least one hit in all four games, McPherson also had four extra-base hits with three doubles and a home run during the week as he notched a 1.077 slugging percentage.
