RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – After yet another productive weekend at the plate, SAU Softball senior first baseman
Maddie Dow claimed her second Great American Conference Player of the Week nod for the 2017 season as announced by the league offices on Tuesday morning.
Dow was a pivotal part of #2 Southern Arkansas' successes this past weekend by hitting .545 with four of her six hits going for extra bases as the Lady Muleriders won three of four games against Southern Nazarene.
Dow, NCAA DII's Active Career Leader in home runs, added three more round-trippers to her career total which now sits at 65; fifth all-time in NCAA Division II history. Dow launched a three-run walk-off bomb in the tenth inning of game three to give SAU a 7-5 win. The Bonham, Texas, native slugged 1.455 in the four game series.
Dow racked up 10 RBI, scored six runs, walked three times, and was hit-by-pitch twice. To top things off, she registered her first career stolen base. In the field, Dow solidified the right corner as she recorded 26 putouts, fielded 1.000, and made an impressive diving grab in foul territory during game four.

Currently, Dow owns the top marks in the GAC in slugging percentage (1.185), on-base percentage (.634), RBI (39), home runs (13), total bases (77), and hit-by-pitch (14). Her 35 runs scored and 20 walks are second in the league, while her .462 average ranks third and her 30 hits places her sixth.
Dow was previously honored as the GAC Player of the Week on February 21. It is the third career GAC weekly honor for Dow and Southern Arkansas' fourth GAC Player of the Week honor this season.
The Lady Muleriders return to Oklahoma for a four-game series with Southwestern Oklahoma in Weatherford. Friday's series-opening doubleheader is slated for 1 p.m. with Saturday's twin bill scheduled for an 11 a.m. start.
