RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. – SAU Softball's
Maddie Dow has been awarded the Great American Conference's Player of the Week honor, as announced by the league on Tuesday afternoon, after an impressive weekend offensively for #5 Southern Arkansas at the UAM 8-State Classic.
Dow's productive weekend at the plate for the Lady Muleriders saw the senior hit .615 (8-for-13) with eight RBI and five runs scored. Half of the Bonham, Texas, native's hits left the yard as Dow blasted four home runs to push her season total to seven. NCAA DII's active career-leader in home runs with 59, Dow constructed a slugging percentage of 1.538 in the four games, while totaling 20 bases.
She added three walks and was hit-by-pitch once as she tallied an on-base percentage of .667. In the field, she started all four games at first base and was perfect in collecting 19 putouts with two assists and a fielding percentage of 1.000.

Tuesday's honor is the second such award for Dow in her four-year career. She becomes the second Lady Mulerider this season to earn the league's Player of the Week honor after teammate
Jill Roye claimed the award last week. Both players were tabbed as National Players of the Week for their respective weeks by Fastpitch News.
Southern Arkansas begins Great American Conference play this weekend on the road against East Central in Ada, Oklahoma, with a pair of doubleheaders on Friday, February 24, and Saturday, February 25. First-pitch on Friday is slated for 2 p.m.
