MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southern Arkansas University Athletics has announced that it will host its fourth-annual Community Night on Thursday, February 2 inside the W.T. Watson Center. This year, SAU Athletics will honor our "Hometown Educators".
In honoring our Hometown Educators, SAU is inviting ALL teachers, administrators and staff members from the Magnolia School District as well as other districts within Columbia County to attend the basketball games against Southwestern Oklahoma.
Recognition of our Hometown Educators will take place at halftime of the men's game and educators in attendance will be presented with gift items from Mulerider Athletics, Chicken Express and Dominos as a special token of appreciation for all that they do.
"We look forward to holding our Community Night event each basketball season," remarked SAU Director of Athletics,
Steve Browning. "The turnout by our community is always tremendous and we have been fortunate to support some local charities as well as recognize the dedicated work of many of our neighbors."
"This year is no different as we honor our Hometown Educators," added Browning. "We are so fortunate to have the quality teachers, administrators, and staff within our local school districts and want to simply thank them publically for all that they do for the present and the future of our community."
With it being Community Night, admission to the general public will be FREE to both games, but SAU Athletics is asking for donations of school supplies to be made in place of charged admission. All donated school supplies that night will be re-distributed among the local school districts.
Scheduled tip-off for each game on February 2 is 5:30 p.m. for the women's game and 7:30 p.m. for the men's game.
