Leonard Biddle is in his third year as head coach of the Southern Arkansas University men’s and women’s golf teams. He also serves as coordinator of the wellness center in the Kathryn Smith-Brown HKR annex.
Biddle is a retired Master Sergeant of the U.S. Air Force where he served as a professional fire fighter for 20 years. After his retirement, he secured employment with the university physical plant in 1994, and then enrolled at SAU in 2000 as a full-time student. While a student, Biddle was an accomplished four-year letterman for the Mulerider golf team, leading the squad in scoring his final two seasons. He was a three-time (2002-2004) selection to the elite Gulf South Conference All-Academic Team, and also made the conference Academic Honor Roll from 2001-2004. Biddle was the recipient of the Southern Arkansas male Scholar-Athlete Award for the 2001-02 academic/athletic year and was named Outstanding Golf Athlete in 2003-04.
Biddle oversaw the inclusion of the women’s golf team as a sport at the university in his first season as head coach. He has been the official scorebook keeper for both the Mulerider and Lady Mulerider basketball teams and works as a member of the chain gang at home football games.
Biddle received his B.S.E. in health, kinesiology and recreation in 2004 from SAU, and his M.Ed. in kinesiology in 2005. He and his wife, the former Petra Sonnen of Bitburg, Germany, reside in Magnolia.
