Trey LaValle – Offensive Line
Trey LaValle enters his fifth season as offensive line coach at his alma mater after joining the Mulerider staff in 2005. He also serves as the team’s academic coordinator and his recruiting responsibilities include northeast Louisiana and southeast Arkansas.
During his tenure at SAU, LaValle has coached four players to All-Gulf South Conference honors and three All-Region players.
LaValle spent 2004-05 at Mountain Home High School, where he served as an assistant football coach, tutoring the offensive line and secondary. The previous year, he was a graduate assistant with the Muleriders, working with the offensive line and tight ends.
A former offensive lineman for the Muleriders, La Valle red-shirted his first season and then became a four-year starter for SAU. In 1999, he was named a second team sophomore All-American and was also second team All-Gulf South Conference. His junior year, LaValle was a first team All-South Region selection and first team All-GSC. In his senior season in 2001, he was again a first team All-GSC pick, was second team All-South Region, and played in the 2002 NCAA Division II Whataburger Cactus Bowl All-Star game.
LaValle received his B.S.E. in health, kinesiology and recreation in 2002 and his M.Ed. in kinesiology in 2004, both from Southern Arkansas. A native of Farmerville, La., LaValle is married to the former Ginger Steelman of Junction City. They have a newborn son, Josiah.
