David Reeves, Jr., enters his first season as the defensive backs coach for SAU. Reeves served the previous two years (2005-2006) as a graduate assistant at the University of Alabama, coaching cornerbacks.
Reeves has served in numerous coaching capacities on the high school level, getting his start in 1993 as offensive coordinator at Lithia Springs (Ga.) High School. He also was the assistant varsity girls and head junior varsity basketball coach, and assistant varsity and head junior varsity baseball coach.
After three years at Lithia Springs, Reeves went to Cornersville (Tenn.) High School where he was head football coach, and assistant varsity and head junior varsity baseball coach for two years.
From 1998-2000, Reeves was the football defensive coordinator, and assistant varsity and head junior varsity baseball coach at Bob Jones High School in Madison, Ala.
Prior to being in Tuscaloosa at Alabama, Reeves was at Athens (Ala.) High School where he served for five years (2000-05) as assistant head coach and defensive coordinator for the football team, and head baseball coach. He also had a three-year stint as head wrestling coach during that time.
Reeves received his B.S.E. in mathematics from Athens State (Ala.) College in 1991 and his Masters in sport management from the University of Alabama in 2006. He has two sons, 11-year old Rhett, and seven-year old Major.
