Anthony WalkerAnthony Walker is in his first season as assistant coach for the Mulerider basketball program. A graduate assistant for SAU last season, Walker was promoted to assistant coach in July of 2007.

During his first year with Southern Arkansas, Walker was responsible for recruiting, game planning, and on-floor coaching responsibilities. The Muleriders improved to 11 wins on the season, the highest victory total in the past five years of the program.

After prepping at Caddo Hills High School, Walker played his collegiate basketball at Hendrix College in Conway. A four-year (2002-06) letterman at Hendrix, Walker served as a team captain his senior year. He was a two-time Southern Collegiate Athletic Conference All-Academic Team selection, and was awarded the prestigious Carl Babcock Award for character and excellence in athletics following his senior season.

Walker received his M.Ed. in kinesiology from Southern Arkansas in 2007, and his B.S.E. in kinesiology from Hendrix in 2006.

Walker’s parents, Danny and Evelyn, reside in Kirby where his mother teaches elementary school, while his father is head boy’s basketball coach at Emmet High School. In 1998, Mr. Walker led Walker High School to its only state basketball championship in school history.
