Steve Browning enters his third season as assistant baseball coach at Southern Arkansas after serving the previous five seasons as a student and graduate assistant coach for the Muleriders. Browning played two years at Crowder Community College (now Crowder College) in Neosho, Mo., before transferring and playing in 1999 and 2000 at SAU. He was a two-year starter for Southern Arkansas and was co-captain of the 2000 team.

Browning primarily works with the infielders, and is the recruiting coordinator. In his tenure on the staff, the Muleriders have consistently ranked among the top teams in the nation in NCAA Division II. He has had several infielders sign contracts as professional players.

Browning received his B.S.E. in health, kinesiology and recreation from Southern Arkansas in 2001, and completed his M.Ed. degree in kinesiology in 2002, and a M.Ed. in education administration and supervision in 2005.

A native of Hensley, Browning is a graduate of Sheridan High School. He is married to the former Brandy Nicholson of Strong and they have one son, Cade.
