MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southern Arkansas forward Cha’Kia Lee (Springhill, La.) has been named the Gulf South Conference West Division 
basketball player of the week for the first reporting period of the 2009-10 season.
A newcomer to the Lady Muleriders, Lee made her debut one to remember, recording a double-double in helping lead SAU to a season-opening 80-54 win Monday over Jarvis Christian that snapped an eight-game losing skid dating back to last season. The junior transfer from Central Arkansas scored 23 points and pulled down a game-high 11 rebounds. Lee shot 61.5 percent (8-13) from the floor, including hitting 4 of 8 three-pointers, dished out three assists, blocked a shot, and had one steal.
