MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Rachel Vinsant, a member of the Southern Arkansas tennis program, has been selected for the second consecutive year to the 2008 ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District VI Women’s At-Large Team.
A 5-8 senior this past season, Vinsant, from Greenville, Texas, graduated Summa Cum Laude
this month with a 3.95 GPA with a B.S. in biological science and a minor in Spanish. A Gulf South Conference All-Academic Team honoree the past two years, she also is a three-time Intercollegiate Tennis Association Scholar-Athlete and has been listed on the GSC Academic Honor Roll the past three seasons. Vinsant received the SAU female Scholar-Athlete Award earlier this month, and is a six-time member of the Southern Arkansas President’s List, and a two-time member of the Dean’s List.
Playing primarily at No. 3 singles and No. 2 doubles this year, Vinsant was 9-5 and 7-9, respectively, on her way to Second Team All-GSC honors. She was an all-conference pick all four years of her career, receiving first team accolades last year and in her freshman season.
Vinsant will now advance for consideration on the Academic All-America Team.
