Hobbs Ends Week with GSC Honor

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southern Arkansas center Kmaria Hobbs (Fr., 5-11, Clarksville, Texas) has followed up her impressive week on the hardwood by being named Gulf South Conference West Division Player of the Week. She averaged 21.5 points and 9.5 rebounds in the Lady Muleriders’ four games through the Thanksgiving break.

Kmaria HobbsHobbs posted consecutive double-doubles, her second and third of the season, in leading SAU to back-to-back wins for the first time since November of last year. The freshman recorded game-highs of 22 points and 10 rebounds in a 66-50 victory over Montevallo, and followed that with career and game-highs of 27 points and 12 rebounds in a 74-63 decision against Harris-Stowe State, both wins coming at the Henderson State Classic Sunday and Monday.

Hobbs started the week with 18 points and a game-high nine rebounds versus Texas A&M-Commerce, and had 19 points and matched a game-high with seven boards at Division I Northwestern State (La.).

Hobbs shot 58. 3 percent (35-60) from the floor, 72.7 percent (16-22) at the free throw line, and added five assists, three blocked shots, and three steals during the week. She has scored in double figures in all eight games this season.
