[May 27, 2008] May 27, 2008 MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southern Arkansas Coach Sam Biley has announced this summer’s girl’s basketball camps. The camps will be held in the W.T. Watson Athletic Center. The sixth annual Lady Muleriders’ “Rookie” basketball day-camp is scheduled for June 23-25. Girls entering grades 3-6 will receive instruction in ball-handling, lay-ups, free throws, passing, receiving, and defense. The cost of the camp is $65 per camper with a $25 deposit. Hours of the camp are from 9 a.m. until noon. The 38th annual girl’s basketball camp is set for July 6-10. Girls entering grades 6-12 and meeting eligibility requirements set by the Arkansas Activities Association are eligible to participate. Instruction, activities, and supervision will be classified according to age. The camp will provide individual instruction in fundamental phases of basketball including defense, rebounding, shooting, ball-handling, and passing. Camp coaches will include Cecily Butler from Prescott, Lucy Williams of Monticello, Corey Smith from El Dorado, Gail Kimbell of Stephens, Elaine Gilbert from Homer, La., and SAU Assistant Coach Carrie Slaton. Members of the Lady Mulerider basketball team will also assist with instruction. The cost of the camp for overnight residential campers is $220 per participant, with an $85 deposit due with the application. The day-camper’s fee is $165 per participant, with a $75 deposit due with the application. No meals are furnished to day-campers.
