MONROE, La. – Southern Arkansas’ track teams completed the regular season portion of its schedule Saturday, participating in the annual Louisiana-Monroe Warhawk Classic.
The Muleriders and Lady Muleriders were the lone NCAA Division II institution competing at the meet, going up against a number of Division I representatives. The Sun Belt Conference was represented by host Louisiana-Monroe, Arkansas State, Arkansas-Little Rock, and Louisiana-Lafayette, while Louisiana Tech, Louisiana State, Southeastern Louisiana, Southern
Mississippi, and Central Arkansas were also in attendance.
SAU’s women again put on a strong showing in the distance events. Also competing in the 800 was sophomore Michaela Krcova, finishing fifth with a 2:26.42, just shy of her best time of the year. Freshmen Jessica Gadlin and Samantha Sparks were 11th and 15th, respectively, with Gadlin posting her best time of the season in 2:31.81. Sparks finished
in 2:38.17.
Freshman Heather Rochelle continued to better her time in the 1500, placing second with a season-low 4:53.90. Junior Kendall Mears was third in 4:58.20. Freshmen Sarah Banman (5:53.51) and Lindsay Spooner (6:11.86) rounded out the Lady Mulerider contingent.
The Muleriders’ Robert Lampkins blew away seven D-I opponents to place second in the 110 meter hurdles. The freshman posted a 15.19 behind Lousiana-Lafayette’s Louis Stevens.

Brandon Suell was 10th (10.93) in the 100 meters and 13th (22.46) in the 200. Mickey Mojica placed 18th in the 400 with a time of 52.80, while Michael Wooten was 19th in the 800 in 2:04.82.
