[March 25, 2008] Mulerider Invitational results.PDF By: Houston Taylor MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Holding on to Monday’s first round (305) lead, Ouachita Baptist posted a second round 307 Tuesday to edge Harding in capturing the 2008 Southern Arkansas Mulerider Invitational at Magnolia Country Club. Host Southern Arkansas shot a 652 (313-339) to finish fourth. The Bisons, sitting tied at third with the Muleriders with 313 after Monday’s round, improved seven strokes (306) in Tuesday’s play to make a run at the Tigers. HU’s Andrew Warder (81-71) and Austin Osburn (79-74) shaved 10 and five strokes, respectively, in the final round to put Harding in contention. But OBU’s Dax Demaree followed Monday’s two-over par 74 with a final round 73 to help keep the title in Ouachita Baptist’s hands. Central Baptist College (311-321), out of Conway, was third with a 632, and Arkansas-Monticello (335-340) followed SAU in fifth with a 675. Demaree took home the individual title, shooting a combined 147 (74-73). Warder (152) and Osburn (153) followed him, while the Tigers’ Rob Greer (76-78), and CBC’s Forrest Carvajal (76-78) and Rick Hutchinson (76-78) each recorded a 154 to tie at fourth. Cody Nelson posted a 159 (75-84) to finish 10th in leading Southern Arkansas, while Drew Webster shot 160 (77-83) and placed 12th. Rounding out the Mulerider contingent was Matt Martin with a 167 (80-87) and Peyton Mitchell shot 168 (83-85). SAU’s Jack Crowley shot a first round 81 before having to withdraw from Tuesday’s final round with an injury. The women’s portion of the invitational was canceled. Southern Arkansas competes next at the Lyon College Scot Invitational at The Course at Eagle Mountain in Batesville March 31 and April 1. |
