[March 4, 2008] TAMU Pepsi Crawford/Wade Results.pdf By: Houston Taylor POTTSBORO, Texas – The Southern Arkansas men’s golf team teed off the spring portion of its 2007-08 season Monday and Tuesday in the Texas A&M-Commerce Pepsi Crawford/Wade Invitational at Tanglewood Golf Resort. Inclement weather forced the cancellation of Tuesday’s round, so Monday’s play served as the final round and the official results. The Muleriders shot a combined 343 in finishing 15th. Southeastern Oklahoma State, Southwestern Oklahoma State, and West Texas A&M battled for the top spot as Southeastern was three strokes better with a 304 to win the invitational. Southwestern (307) barely nipped West Texas A&M (308) for second-place. St. Edwards (Texas) and Central Oklahoma shot 313 for a fourth-place tie, while Henderson State and St. Mary’s (Texas) each had 316 in tying at sixth. Ouachita Baptist (318) was eighth, and host Texas A&M-Commerce and Southeastern Oklahoma State’s B team each shot 320 to tie for ninth. Midwestern State (Texas) (321), Incarnate Word (Texas) (327), East Central (Okla.) (329), and Rockhurst (Mo.) (336) were 11th through 14th, respectively. Behind SAU, Oklahoma Panhandle State (349) was 16th and Texas A&M International (375) 17th. Central Oklahoma’s Colby Shrum was one-under par (71) to claim the individual title. Brad Aycock of Southeastern Oklahoma was second with 73 and Henderson State’s Jack Bartlett had a 74 for third. Seven participants hit 75 in tying for fourth. Drew Webster was +11 for an 83 to finish tied at 52nd in leading Southern Arkansas. Peyton Mitchell shot an 85, Jack Crowley had 86, and Cody Nelson claimed an 89. Matt Martin and T.C. Graham also competed for the Muleriders. SAU hosts its own invitational March 24-25 at Magnolia Country Club. |
