Southern Arkansas Sets Press Conference to Announce New Football Coach

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Director of Athletics Jay Adcox has announced that the Southern Arkansas athletic department will hold a formal press conference Friday to announce the hiring of current Texarkana Arkansas High School football coach Bill Keopple as the new head coach of the Muleriders.
Keopple, who becomes the 19th head football coach at SAU, has 25 years of coaching experience, including 18 as an assistant on the collegiate level with stops at Tulsa, Arkansas, Boise State and Central Arkansas.
Keopple recently completed his sixth season at Arkansas High, leading the Razorbacks to a 5-7 record and the second round of the 6A state playoffs. His teams were 44-26-1 over the past six years, advancing to the state playoffs the last five and winning state championships in 2006 and 2007.
Keopple served one year as head coach at Newport High School in 1996, guiding the Greyhounds to the playoffs in an 8-3 season. He holds a 52-29-1 mark in his seven years on the high school level.
The press conference is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday in the boardroom in Overstreet Hall on the Southern Arkansas campus.
