[September 22, 2007] COMMERCE, Texas – Southern Arkansas’ season troubles continued Saturday, dropping straight sets in a 3-0 shutout by Texas A&M-Commerce at the A&M-Commerce Field House. The Lady Muleriders fell by scores of 20-30, 28-30, and 24-30. The Lions (4-9) took control early in game one, jumping out to a 17-5 lead before cruising to the win. SAU kept it tight in games two and three, being tied late in each one before TAMU-C was able to pull away to claim the match. Texas A&M-Commerce hit a season-high .360 in picking up the win, led by Colleen Favaro. Favaro’s match-high 16 kills set a new career school record in that category, giving her 1,518 during her four-year span. Wannie Neal also added double-figure kills, finishing with 10. Brittany Williams had 37 assists for her teammates, and Favaro knocked down four service aces. Lauren Flynn led with nine digs and Neal had four blocks at the net. Southern Arkansas (3-13) got 12 kills from Cristina Correa and 11 from Kristina Daily. Kayli Kerr and Andrea Spradlin tossed up 10 assists each. Spradlin also had 14 digs, while Mallory McKee chipped in 11. The Lady Muleriders hope to turn their season around with four consecutive matches at home, starting Tuesday against Southeastern Oklahoma State at 6 p.m. #SAU# |
