[September 16, 2007] LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Undefeated at 14-0, West Alabama used a 30-24, 30-26, 30-17 win to get by a struggling Southern Arkansas team in volleyball action Saturday at Pruitt Hall. It was the second consecutive shutout for the Tigers over the Lady Muleriders (3-10), having swept them on Friday also. After leading UWA with 13 kills in Friday’s match, Allison Nail knocked down 18 Saturday to again top all players. Teammates Ana Gabriela Pedrosa and Jessica Crook added 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Giuliana DeFrancesco served up 40 assists. Jacquie Swan had a match-high 19 digs, and DeFrancesco finished with four blocks. SAU again struggled attacking the net, hitting .125 with just 31 kills. Shelly Jones, Maggie Ross, Sarah Bell, and Cristina Correa each finished with five kills to lead Southern Arkansas. Andrea Spradlin had 12 assists, and Mallory McKee ended with 16 digs. After 13 matches on the road, the Lady Muleriders finally get to come home Tuesday, hosting Harding in their Gulf South Conference opener at 7 p.m. in the W.T. Watson Athletic Center. #SAU# |
