Southern Arkansas Tennis Program Hosts Kid’s Day

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Southern Arkansas Lady Mulerider tennis program hosted their second annual Kid’s Day Saturday at the SAU tennis complex. Approximately 15 local youth attended the event, receiving three hours of free tennis lessons, a hot dog luncheon, and free gift bags.

SAU Tennis Dominates Weekend Tournament

PLANO, Texas – Southern Arkansas won 18 of a possible 20 tennis matches, including 17 of 18 on Friday, in a dominating performance over the weekend in the Collin County College Fall Open Tennis Tournament. Rain cut the two-day individual event short on Saturday, the second day of competition, but not before the Lady Muleriders blitzed the field.

SAU Sports Hall of Fame Will Induct Eight

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Four student-athletes from the golden era and four from the modern era will be inducted into the 2007 Southern Arkansas University Sports Hall of Fame this weekend. SAU’s fifth Sports Hall of Fame class will be honored at halftime of the Mulerider football game against Valdosta State on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Wilkins Stadium.

Lady Mulerider Tennis Team Honored

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) has announced that 43 teams, including Southern Arkansas, have been named 2007 NCAA Division II All-Academic Teams. SAU and Valdosta State were the only two teams from the Gulf South Conference to receive the honor.

To receive ITA All-Academic honors, Southern Arkansas had to post a cumulative team GPA of at least 3.20 on a 4-point scale.

GSC Announces 2007 Spring All-Academic Teams

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – The Gulf South Conference has released the 2007 Havoc Spring All-Academic Teams, and Academic Honor Roll, which includes 36 Southern Arkansas University student-athletes, six of them named to the elite conference All-Academic Teams. A total of 80 student-athletes across the league were named All-Academic, including three three-time selections, and 20 who were members of the 2006 team.

Tualla, Vinsant Receive All-Academic Honors

MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Nelly Tualla and Rachel Vinsant, members of the Southern Arkansas tennis program, have been selected to the 2007 ESPN The Magazine First Team Academic All-District VI Women’s At-Large Team. Southern Arkansas Hosts Annual All-Sports Banquet


MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Whitney Brannon and Skyler Stromsmoe were honored Tuesday with the coveted Auburn Smith Awards at the annual Southern Arkansas All-Sports banquet in the Grand Hall of the Donald W. Reynolds Center. Also receiving laurels were Nelly Tualla and Brian (Scooter) Hendrickson, being named this year’s Scholar-Athlete Award winners. Director of Athletics, Jay Adcox, presented the annual honors.
