MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southern Arkansas center Kim Davis has been named a Second Team member on the Daktronics All-South Region women’s basketball team.

Davis, a 6-1 senior out of Mountain Home, was previously honored as a First Team All-Gulf South Conference selection. Playing in 20 games this season, she helped lead the Lady Muleriders to the semifinals of the GSC tournament where they were defeated by fifth-ranked Delta State. Davis scored 25 points and had a career-high 22 rebounds in a quarterfinal win over North Alabama in the tourney.

Davis scored 330 points this season, placing her in the SAU 300-Point Club, and led SAU with 16.5 points per game. She also led the squad with 11.2 rebounds per game, a 57.7 field goal percentage, an 80.0 free throw percentage, and a team-high 21 blocked shots. Davis had 14 double-doubles (points, rebounds) in her 20 games, giving her 42 for her career, and was named the GSC West Division Player of the Week three times this year.

Davis, who ended her career fifth on the all-time SAU scoring list with 1,305 points, was a First Team All-GSC selection in her freshman year (2003-04), and the West Division Freshman of the Year that season. She was also named a Freshman All-American and honorable Mention All-America that season. Davis was a Second Team All-GSC pick in 2004-05.

Davis was one of only three GSC players named to the all-region team, the others being junior guard Jennifer Rushing of Delta State, on the first team, and sophomore forward Amber Rutherford from North Alabama joined Davis on the second team.

Kate Schrader of Florida Gulf Coast was named the South Region’s most valuable player. Besides her and Rushing on the first team, other members were Jennifer Tamilio from Florida Tech, Steffi Sorensen of Florida Gulf Coast, and Larissa McDonough from Rollins (Fla.). Other second team selections were Sheena Walton of Tampa (Fla.), Alexandria Fernander from Barry (Fla.), and Cortney Matthewis of Kentucky State.
