[February 28, 2007] MAGNOLIA, Ark. – Southern Arkansas guard Goldie White and center Kim Davis racked up honors when the 2006-07 All-Gulf South Conference basketball team and other post-season awards were released Tuesday by the GSC. White, a 5-8 true freshman guard from Hampton, was selected as the West Division Freshman of the Year and was named Second Team All-GSC. She was second in the league in scoring this season, with 16.2 points per game, and minutes played, at 36.7. White led SAU in field goals (134), three-pointers (30), and free throws (122) made, and was third on the team in rebounds per game (5.3). She led the squad in total assists (73), and was second in steals (47). White’s 420 points scored on the season was second in the GSC, and led her team, placing her in the SAU 400-Point Club. She was named the GSC West Division Player of the Week in the last reporting period. Davis, a 6-1 senior out of Mountain Home, was a First Team All-GSC selection. Davis played in only 18 games this season, missing the first semester, while the team struggled to a 1-7 record. The team went 12-6 with her and another player’s addition at the break. Davis did not meet the minimum requirement of playing in 75 percent of the team’s total games to be ranked in GSC statistics. If she had, she would have led the conference in scoring (16.9), rebounds (10.9), field goal percentage (60.4), and offensive (3.7) and defensive (7.1) rebounds per game. She would have been sixth in free throw percentage (80.8), and tenth in minutes played (32.8). Davis scored 305 points in the regular season, placing her in the SAU 300-Point Club. She had 13 double-doubles (points, rebounds) in her 18 games, giving her 41 for her career, and was named the GSC West Division Player of the Week three times this year. Davis, who will finish her career fifth on the all-time SAU scoring list, was also a First Team All-GSC selection in her freshman year (2003-04), and the West Division Freshman of the Year that season. She was also named a Freshman All-American and honorable Mention All-America that season. Davis was a Second Team All-GSC pick in 2004-05. #SAU# |
