The injury occurred when Babineaux got tangled up with a receiver going after a pass and banged his right knee on the field as he landed. The injury has been described as a bone bruise in his right knee and Babineaux is currently on crutches with a thick leg brace. Fortunately, an MRI on Sunday revealed that no structural damage occurred to the knee. Beginning his fourth season with Seattle, Babineaux has been a key contributor to the Seahawks and was a hero in last year’s playoff win over Dallas with a solo tackle of quarterback Tony Romo at Seattle’s two-yard line, one yard shy of a first down, following a mishandled field goal snap that prevented the Cowboys from taking the lead at the end of the game. Seattle led 21-20 at the time and won by that margin. Babineaux was already going to be limited some in practice due to recovering from off-season shoulder surgery. The former Mulerider had eight starts and played in 15 regular season and all the Seahawk playoff games last year, missing only the regular season game at Chicago because of a concussion. He totaled 58 tackles, one interception, and four pass breakups last year. #SAU# Photo contributed by John Froschauer/AP |
